Home Care

Healthy teeth begin at home.

Man brushing teethMaintaining good dental habits at home, in between regular visits to the dentist, is important for sustaining great oral health and avoiding expensive dental procedures down the road.

Brushing your teeth for three minutes at least twice a day (in the morning and before bed) is a vital step. Flossing at least once a day to clean the hard-to-reach places between teeth is also necessary in preventing tooth decay. Some simple habits, like drinking water after eating or drinking soda, make a difference, too. Avoid sugary drinks and foods whenever possible, and avoid constant snacking.

Use products that carry the American Dental Association (ADA) seal on them. This includes toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, and more. The ADA seal means that, when used correctly, the product will help prevent tooth decay and promote healthy teeth and gums.
